Darren Bancroft

British actor Darren Bancroft was born in Leicester in 1973.


As a teenager Darren was a member of the Leicestershire Youth Theatre and caught the acting bug when he performed, as a 16 year old, in a production of 'The Threepenny Opera' at the 1989 Edinburgh Festival. After several more youth theatre and school productions and plenty of encouragement from his drama teacher he decided to pursue a career in acting.


In 1991 he was offered a place at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, (now Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance) graduating in the summer of 1994. The same year he made his professional acting debut in the BBC courtroom drama 'Crown Prosecutor'. Numerous screen credits were to follow in shows such as ''Coronation Street', 'The Capture', 'Code Of A Killer', 'Hollyoaks', 'Casualty', 'The Job Lot', 'Eastenders', 'Doctors', 'Dream Team', 'Heartbeat', 'Goodnight Sweetheart' & 'The Tudors'.


Recent work includes; reprising the role of Tech Officer Eric in season 2 of The Capture.  Stu in The Larkins, Barnaby Watson in the BBC daytime soap Doctors and returning as DC Holden in Coronation Street.


Roles on stage include playing Jim in the highly acclaimed Derby Theatre production of 'Brassed Off' and Carlson in the Selladoor Worldwide UK tour of 'Of Mice And Men'. 


He has appeared in the films 'Endgame', 'Titanic Town' and 'Wounded', featured in a number of commercials for the UK (current campaigns for BeGamble Aware & E-ON) and abroad and has voiced a number of projects.


A passionate supporter of Leicester City Football Club, Darren has been a season ticket holder for over 20 years.
